What is the chondromalacia of the knee joint?

Dear readers! Have you ever wondered why knees can hurt? Often, this is due to the development of arthritis or osteoarthritis in this area. But, not less rare disease of such area is chondromalacia – destruction of a cartilage of a knee. Chondromalacia of the knee: what is it? What are the causes of this? What symptoms accompany the disease and how to treat it? These and other issues will be highlighted in the article.

Etiology of the disease

Unfortunately, it is impossible to name the exact causes of this disease. But we can name provoking factors that contribute to its development. These include:

  • Systematic load on this department, which causes friction of the femur on the upper surface of the knee;
  • Pathological anatomical structure of the joint;
  • Decreased elasticity of the muscle fibers, which are localized in the posterior part of the femur;
  • Muscle tissue weakness in the anterior part of the femur, which causes knee instability;
  • Previous injury to the joint, for example, fracture or dislocation;
  • Age features (in older people, chondromalacia is considered a consequence of arthritis);
  • Uncomfortable shoes that a person wears. Including shoes on a flat sole.

What are the symptoms of the disease?

The initial symptom of this disease is pain syndrome. With the passage of time, a stiffness joins that is localized in the inner or outer part of the knee. Pain syndrome increases with the load on this department, for example, when running or squatting.

After the onset of the activity (movement) of the person, the painful character decreases in its intensity, and eventually disappears altogether. But still, do not overload your knees when doing physical exercises. If there is discomfort and pain in this department, the intensity of training is recommended to be reduced.

Note that pain syndrome can occur not only with exercise. So, if a person is in a sitting position for a long time, especially with bent legs in the knees, in a “squatting” position or kneeling, there may also be pain in this department.

In some cases, there is a feeling of tightness of the skin in the knee area, as well as a small swelling in the same area. Flexion and extension of the knee cause a characteristic sound, or rather, crackling.

It is very important to pay attention to, if the above-described symptoms do not disappear after a few days. In this case, it is recommended to consult a specialist.

Untimely detection and treatment of the disease can significantly complicate the process of restoring cartilage tissue. A fairly common consequence is the weakening of the quadriceps muscle of the thigh, which can lead to a complete loss of the functional capacity of the limb.

How does the doctor diagnose the disease?

First of all, the doctor conducts an examination of the knee. This is necessary to determine the ratio of knee elements, the detection of puffiness, inflammation. After a personal examination, the doctor prescribes a radiographic examination of the knee in several projections. If the situation requires it, an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is performed.

Sometimes, arthroscopic examination of the knee-minimally invasive procedure may be necessary, during which the doctor introduces a probe into the joint with a camera, with which you can detect some changes in the cartilage and ligaments.

Also, the specialist determines the stage of the development of the disease, which will allow to determine the necessary treatment. Let’s look at the symptoms at each stage of the disease:

1 stage. Characterized by the appearance on the joint of soft seals, which are not painful, but deliver a person a slight discomfort, especially when palpation of the knee. Edema of the knee joint at this stage of pathology development is absent.

2 stage. At the 2nd stage there is a gap in the cartilage and a depression up to 1 cm. The intensity of the pain syndrome increases with the sharp movement of the knee. The skin in the affected area is hyperemic and swollen.

3 stage. In this period, a crack is formed with a lumen to the bone itself. The pain syndrome occurs both under load and at rest. If the disease occurs in an acute form, there are clearly expressed signs of the inflammatory process. If in chronic form, – there is severe pain and crunching at the time of movement of the joint.

4 th stage. The most severe stage, which is characterized by a strong pain syndrome and complete deformation of the joint.

What treatment does the doctor prescribe?

The disease is often treated with conservative methods. Let us consider in more detail:

  • It is recommended to wear a knee to stabilize the knee joint.
  • Carrying out physiotherapy procedures.
  • Physiotherapy. It is necessary to strengthen the femoral muscles.
  • The use of medicines prescribed by a doctor.
  • Intra-articular injection of sodium hyaluronate preparations.
  • Limitation of physical activity, which may be accompanied by the onset of pain syndrome.

In the event that conservative treatment does not bring the desired recovery, an operation, for example, arthroscopy or reconstruction, is prescribed. Under arthroscopy is understood as an operative intervention, which consists in carrying out a small incision, through which the apparatus is introduced – an arthroscope. Through the apparatus, tools are introduced, by which the areas of the damaged cartilage are excised.

The operation (reconstruction) is carried out in severe cases of the disease, during which the angle of the patella is changed and the pressure on the cartilage is eliminated.

More accurately answer such questions, which are of interest to many people, like chondromalacia of the knee joint: what are these, what are the symptoms, how to treat the disease, only a doctor can. Remember, the earlier the disease is detected, the better the prognosis will be!

Flat-footedness: learn and disarm

Greetings, my dear readers. I want to tell you about such an inconspicuous, but extremely unpleasant disease – like flat feet. This ailment is very common. And, unfortunately, it is gaining momentum, hitting more and more people. What is this illness, how to determine flat feet at home and what to do with the disease further, we will talk today.

Quiet enemy

Until recently, flat feet were treated lightly. People even had an opinion that such a disease is luck. Because they do not take her into the army. And having discovered this sickness in oneself, the overwhelming majority simply hammered into the treatment of this disease.

Perhaps, precisely because of this established error in harmlessness and even, in some ways, the use of flat feet has become very widespread.

The insidiousness of this disease is that for many years it almost does not bring discomfort. And when it manifests itself in all its glory, it is almost impossible to change something.

A serious problem arises before a person – the legs are constantly aching. Mostly at night. Sometimes there are cramps for 2-3 hours. And it is necessary to overstrain the muscles a little during the day, sleepless night to the person is provided.

To reduce pain and cramps, the patient has to regularly massage his feet and warm calf muscles. And the army does not get rid of the disease, but it brings a lot of troubles.

Know the bad in the face

Flat feet – this is the wrong structure of the foot. And this disease can appear at any age. There are two forms: transverse and longitudinal. The transverse flatfoot develops two times more often than the longitudinal one.

With these deformities of the foot, the entire ankle stops performing one of its main functions – cushioning during walking. This affects all the joints of the body, down to the cervical vertebrae. And if in childhood it is almost imperceptible, then in adulthood the symptoms of this illness literally poison life.

In children 5-6 years old, flat feet are the norm. The foot is still forming and acquiring the right shape. But closer to 7 years parents should look at the legs of their child more closely. And watch also for their own.

How to diagnose an abnormal foot structure? For this, it is not necessary to go to a polyclinic and defend long queues for an orthopedic doctor. There are ways to find out without leaving home.

Tricks with paper

One of the most effective methods is the analysis of a footprint on a piece of paper. For this, only three things are needed:

  1. Ruler;
  2. Greasy cream or some coloring matter (watercolor paints, green)
  3. A sheet of paper on which the test subject’s foot will fit.

So, we take a leg (your own or someone else’s) and generously smear the whole foot with a cream or dye. And even better – a cream with dye added to it.

Then put your foot on a sheet of paper. There are several important points here. On the foot it is necessary to become. You can not sit in a chair, put a foot to the paper. So do not put the diagnosis.

The second nuance: you need to stand on both feet at the same time. Even if now you check only one foot. And if with the children this trick can be turned, just by taking their armpits and putting it on top of the sheet, it’s harder for adults to do it. You may have to take two chairs with backs, and leaning on them, put your feet on the floor together. Or use a home bar if there is one.

The last important point – to stand on the sheet you need not for long, just a few seconds. Otherwise, the diagnosis will be incorrect.

Well, of course, you need to check both legs. In turn. Or, if you have an assistant, you can do it at once with two stops.

Look at the picture

Now we remove the paper from the foot and study it carefully. On the sheet should be clearly visible heel, the pincushion of the toes and the narrow outer edge of the foot, connecting them. The inner edge and middle of the foot should not leave a trace on the paper. Because at a healthy leg they are raised above the surface and its (surface) does not touch, and the sheet is not stained.

Now you can take the ruler and draw the supposed line of the inner edge of the foot from the edge of the thumb pad to the edge of the heel. And then to estimate the depth of the cavity formed by the unpainted surface. If the cavity is deep – 2/3 or more of the total area of the foot – there is no flat footing. But the wider the outer arch of the foot – the greater the degree of violation.
Believe me, it’s hard to just read it on paper. In practice, everything is simpler and clearer.

Other methods

How else can I diagnose the platypodia myself? There are a number of signs that indicate an anomaly of the development of the foot.

  1. About flat feet will say shoes, worn more on the inside. People with healthy legs shoe on the outer edge of the sole and heel.
  2. Will be visible curvature of the legs as a whole. If the arch of the foot is incorrectly developed, the joints of the knees bend and the legs look like the big letter X. If you look at the ankle joint from behind, on the heels, you can see that it is bent inward.
  3. Since natural shock absorption when walking with flat feet is broken – pain in the legs is inevitable. Like fast fatigue and swelling. As a child, it is almost imperceptible, but in adulthood it spoils life.

Disease is under control

I repeat, flat feet can begin at any age. And if you let the disease into its own right, then it will be difficult to fix anything later. Therefore, you need to monitor your legs, because there are simple ways how to determine flat feet at home without visits to the doctor and complex studies. And start to correct the situation.

After the diagnosis is made, you will need to do therapeutic exercises, foot massage, walk barefoot on sand or pebbles every evening. And once every few months again leave your marks on paper to see if the treatment brings the result.

On this I hasten to bow out and thank you for your attention. I suggest subscribing to updates to my blog. If you liked the article – share it with friends in social networks. Until next time.

How to understand that you have a stretching leg?

Oh, hello, friends. I am glad to meet you again. Right now, please remember, did you have any injuries? Well, just accidentally received or during work, perhaps training? Why do I ask … The theme is just this today: “What to do when stretching the ligaments of the foot.” Quite interesting, I believe, and therefore I’ll tell you everything that will help you understand the reasons for getting this injury, as well as ways to counter it.

It is not uncommon for our joints to be subjected to heavy loads, and this can lead to certain problems. One of these problems is stretching ligaments, because the ligaments are part of the joints. It is noteworthy, but a stop (or ankle) is a place where the muscles of the legs do not receive their dose of trauma when the ligaments are stretched. Although in all other cases this happens. Apparently, this is a certain feature of our body, structure. So why do stretch stops occur “very often”?

Really, why?

There are several reasons for getting a partial ligament rupture. As you have already understood, when stretching, the ligaments are broken only partially, but this is enough to get a bunch of problems, inconveniences or limitations (for example, in training).

The first and most common cause is sudden “crashes” of our body: falls, unnatural bending of joints, stroke and the like. It is because of such unforeseen and unpleasant situations that a person has to suspend himself in almost all physical activities – work, sport, walks, hobbies. The reason for the reason (if I may say so) … okay, I’ll say it differently. A prerequisite for the cause may be uncomfortable shoes, walking or running on an uneven or slippery surface.

The second reason is the instability of the joints. That is, perhaps earlier a person had already received similar stretches or more severely injured the lower leg, which subsequently later again led to stretching.

Another reason may be the initial weakness of the ligaments (congenital or acquired due to low mobility of the person). If a person sits at home more, does not go much, then it is not surprising that stretching the foot for him is a common thing.

Another fact is that with frequent such stretches a guy (or girl) can not feel such symptoms as pain, swelling, discomfort in movement. Well, behold, I ran a little forward, and “merged” several symptoms of sprain.

Symptoms of “own person”

In the first few times, the stretching of the ankles can have a whole range of symptoms at once, and later only a few (well, I mentioned this a little earlier).

With very strong stretches, there may be acute pain (constant or with support on the injured leg), swelling of the entire joint, bruising (bruising or internal bleeding without damaging the skin), severe discomfort and pain in the leg, significantly reduced amplitude of joint movement (when you do not You can move the foot in the same way as before), instability of the joint (when you can stretch the same leg once again after stretching, for example).

Less severe stretching can do without acute pain (only a small aching), without swelling, without bruising, but with some inconvenience when walking and with the possibility of re-receiving the same injury.

People who have sprained ligaments of their feet are a common thing, as a rule, do not experience any great difficulties due to trauma. They generally can not attach importance to this, without feeling any pain, not seeing swelling or blushing of the skin. But all this does not mean that you do not need to heal or at least strengthen the ankle joints.

The very frequency of stretching indicates that the ligaments are weak and require attention.

In short, the symptoms can all manifest themselves in different ways, and this depends on the degree of trauma to the legs. Someone is more lucky and he will forget about the incident in a couple of minutes, and someone will have to tinker with his feet for several weeks before they begin to function properly. In any case, stretching the ligaments is not a minor scratch from the claws of a domestic cat.

What to do in this case

If you are not lucky, and you still stretched (torn) your ligaments, the first thing you need to do is sit down and relax the “emergency” leg.

Since my blog on sports, it is logical to assume that this unpleasant situation happened in the gym, fitness club, sports complex or other similar wellness institution.

So, you sat down and unloaded your damaged leg. Next you need to find something cold.

Ideal option would be ice. Since in a more or less normal gym there are refrigerators with chilled drinks, you can attach them to the stretching place.

If you are dealing with ice, then do not apply it directly to the surface of the skin – first wind your foot with a towel, and then lay ice.

The next step is to fix the lower leg. Suitable tight bandage or elastic bandage. Do not overtighten: the dressing should sit tightly, but not too tightly to not squeeze the blood vessels.

I advise after that if the case is serious (with swelling, bruise and acute pain) and “smells of kerosene”, immediately stop exercising and go home. If you continue, you do not know what it will turn out for you. “Miser pays twice”. Do not go home on foot: for the joint is now important peace. It is better to call a taxi or ask a friend (loved one, relative) to pick you up.

Arriving home, take a reclining position, in which the injured leg will be slightly higher than your chest (heart). A smaller blood flow will somewhat reduce the swelling of the leg.

You can walk without limp in 2-3 weeks with due care and rest. It is important that you see the doctor, and prescribed everything necessary for recovery. If you decide to do it, then my advice to you is – do not load the ankles, for now.

Well, I did everything I could. You received recommendations, and I was satisfied that I could at least partially help you. Subscribe to blog updates and leave your comments. And also do not forget to share your article with your friends. Take care of yourself.

Avitaminosis and its treatment with vitamins

Hello, dear reader. The topic of this article I decided to choose the problem of vitamin deficiency. In the modern world, we all run somewhere and forget to give time to ourselves and our own health. Fast snacks, irregular and improper diet can all cause illness. Agree, the style of your life is similar, yes?

If you do not know how to treat vitamin deficiency, treatment with vitamins is the best way to combat this ailment. Today we will talk about this. Probably, dear friend, you had an avitaminosis also. Is not it? Now we will look at the symptoms of this ailment, but do you remember if you had such a thing?

Avitaminosis is the absence in the body of important vitamins, microelements. Agree, dear friend, you do not always follow your diet, right?

The most frequent symptoms of avitaminosis are the following:

  • Over-dried and irritable skin;
  • Split hair and the appearance of dandruff;
  • Occurrence of cracks in the corners of the mouth and on the lips;
  • Red rash in the form of points throughout the body;
  • The gums begin to bleed;
  • Decrease in the effectiveness of immunity, which is caused by frequent colds;
  • Constantly want to sleep, no appetite.

Noticing one of these signs, you should consult a doctor (this is recommended in order to determine the missing element) and begin treatment. Do you go to the doctor if you notice something of these or other symptoms? Probably, like most people, no.

General recommendations

After determining the type of vitamin deficiency, one should proceed to treatment. The first step is the introduction of a special diet. The ration is built in order to enrich itself with microelements as much as possible, to eliminate their shortage. Yes, it will be difficult, but possible. Remember, you do it for yourself!

All vitamins affect human activity, help the immune system fight many infections, improve resistance and resistance to adverse environmental factors. They take an active part in the formation and development of the body. This is a kind of energy, like those that we drink to cheer up.

And did you drink energy? If so, then remember that after them you do not want to sleep, and you want to do something. It also happens to the immune system.

In the diet, each person must necessarily have bread from large-grain flour, fruits, vegetables, all sorts of cereals (corn, oats, buckwheat). Cereals contain many easily digestible proteins of plant origin and microelements. Yes, maybe you do not like this kind of food, right? But you need to eat it, it’s important!

What is needed for skin avitaminosis?

The lack of vitamin A and B in the human body provokes the appearance of visible signs on the skin. As a rule, it manifests itself in the form of skin peeling, it becomes dry and cracks begin to appear, the appearance of dandruff is noticeable. Observe, dear friend, for yourself and you will notice it in the spring, in the beginning of spring, if you have not noticed. Noticed? Yes, it was avitaminosis.

Sometimes the disease manifests itself on the skin of the hands due to the fact that a person quits smoking or eats on an improper diet. To combat this, doctors recommend using vitamins for a year to restore the shortage.

In order to cure the skin, you need to add to your diet products containing missing elements, and after a while you will notice an improvement. Try, check whether it’s true or fiction. We are absolutely sure that after you change your diet, everything will be fine.

The classic diet in the manifestation of beriberi must contain fish products, fruits and vegetables. To preserve more of the body’s essential substances, fruits and vegetables are recommended to be taken in raw form.

Of fruits, it is desirable to include in the diet carrots, pumpkin and peaches. Doctors still recommend with avitaminosis, which manifests itself on the hands, to consume a lot of vitamins of groups E and D, which are abundant in olive oil, greens, nuts. And in your diet, dear friend, do you have such products?

The most necessary vitamins

Lack of a certain group of vitamins is expressed in a certain area or organ. Therefore, it can be assumed that every vitamin group is responsible for a specific function of the body. If you suffered an avitaminosis on yourself, then now you can find out what vitamins you did not have. We think this information will be very useful.

For example:

  • Vitamins B12, E, A, B, and F are necessary for the work of the whole organism and for the skin;
  • B6, F, A, B2, H groups feed on hair;
  • Nails require groups C, D, A;
  • Teeth need elements E and D;
  • Eyes need groups B and A.

To maintain the necessary level of all vitamins in the body, it is recommended to take vitamin complexes that can be bought at any pharmacy or drink many natural juices. Carrot juice is considered to be a universal and one of the most valuable juices. It contains a group of vitamins C, D, E, G, K and many trace elements. We think getting a carrot and making juice from it will not be a problem for anyone. Only a lazy person can not do this, right?

How to treat?

So as not to complicate your life and not watch the diet, because each of us does not have a lot of time for ourselves, we can stock up with synthetic vitamin complexes. These complexes are produced in a variety of feeds: classic tablets, capsules, candies, marmalades, powders and syrups. Everyone can choose something to his liking.

Vitamin complexes, probably, now all lazy people who do not want to follow a special diet will be happy, invented for people living at a fast pace. Agree, this is much more convenient. Or not?

After choosing a complex, you need to follow the recipe. Some people start taking vitamins in large doses, which does not pass unnoticed and new problems appear, harm the body. Some of us thought: “I will accept more, the effect will be better”. It was so? This can not be done!

Best of all, vitamins are absorbed during a meal. But everyone should remember that drinking milk drinks, soda and coffee is not necessary, because of these drinks, many useful substances are not digested.

It is necessary to take vitamin complexes, and it is recommended by many doctors, in the morning, preferably in the morning. So you provide yourself with nutrients for the whole day. Yes, you, dear friend, will have to monitor yourself and introduce a certain regime of the day. Difficult, yes. But it is necessary!

And in conclusion, dear reader, if you have noticed any signs of a shortage of nutritional elements in yourself, go to the doctor. Remember, to cure vitamin deficiency, treatment with vitamins is the best choice. So you guarantee your health.

If you liked this article, share it with your friends, do not be indifferent to them. Also subscribe to the update of the blog, we will still have a lot of interesting.

How to treat knee joint disease? Recommendations

Hello, my dear readers. In my today’s article, I will try to understand what the Schläter disease of the knee is, the treatment and symptoms of this disease will also be reflected in the article.

The form of the disease

The name of this ailment is due to a surgeon from Switzerland, Schlättter. For the sake of justice, it is worth noting that almost at the same time, another surgeon, the American Osgood, described this disease, but in our time this disease is most often referred to as Schlätter’s disease.

What is this disease? In order to understand this issue in more detail, we should pay attention to the activity of the human musculoskeletal system. The greatest burden falls on the quadriceps muscle of the thigh, which is attached to the anterior part of the popliteal bone with the help of tendons. The most constant loads fall precisely on this part of the musculoskeletal system.

Adolescence, this is exactly the moment when there is a fairly active growth of the body, as a result of which the regular supply of various kinds of nutrients to the bone tissue is disrupted. This leads to the fact that some part of the bone structure weakens, and pathological processes of necrosis of a certain part of bone tissue occur.

So, as we can see, this disease affects teenagers aged 10 to 18 years. Especially at risk children who actively participate in sports, but also for children not involved in sports, the threat of disease Schlätter’s disease exists.

At the initial stage, Schlätter’s disease is practically not diagnosed, in the form of small pain sensations in the knee joint area during squats or when climbing the stairs. With increased loads on the knee joint, more severe pain occurs, passing through a certain period of time.

Over time, there are more pronounced painful periods, accompanied by a noticeable swelling of the knee joint. This disease has a chronic form of flow, with pronounced periods of exacerbation. The main symptoms of the disease include:

  1. Pain sensations in the lower part of the knee joint
  2. Increasing pain while walking
  3. Periodically increasing puffiness in the knee joint region
  4. Pain during flexion and extension of the leg
  5. Periodic attacks of acute pain

Often full recovery occurs after the end of bone growth in the body of a teenager, that is, in the area of 17-19 years.

Diagnosis of the disease

Usually the decisive factor in diagnosing this disease is an x-ray examination, which leads to a decision to make a diagnosis.

For the sake of completeness, the radiology is performed in two projections: direct and lateral, which allows obtaining more complete data on the course of the disease. In more complex cases, the use of MRI, ultrasound and densitometry of the knee joint is possible.

Treatment of the disease

One of the main conditions in the treatment of Schlätter’s disease is to ensure the greatest possible quiet state for the patient knee joint. Ideally, it is necessary to almost completely exclude the load on the aching leg for some time.

To achieve the desired effect, artificial restriction of motion of the knee joint is applied. This is possible with the use of a special gypsum tire, an orthopedic bandage that fixes the movement or removable tutor. In certain cases, these measures are sufficient for a complete recovery.

In this condition, bone tissue is gradually restored, and the functions of the knee joint are restored in parallel. Pass pain, the swelling of the joint falls. The main methods of therapeutic therapy include:

  • Various variants of physiotherapy (including electrophoresis, mud therapy, thermotherapy, quartz, etc.)
  • Special medical massage
  • Complex of therapeutic physical culture
  • Ice compresses for pain relief
  • Treatment with medications (painkillers, anti-inflammatory, anti-decongestants)
  • Special Diet

With complete cure, many of the survivors of Schlätter’s disease have small pineal protrusions that do not affect the functional component of the knee joint and do not cause pain. In rare cases, serious complications such as osteoarthrosis of the knee joint or its deformity are observed.

Treatment with folk methods

Just as with the drug treatment in the treatment of folk methods, one of the main conditions for a successful process is to ensure the complete rest of the diseased limb.

The next step will be the application of various kinds of warming compresses. This is a rather long procedure, the duration of which varies depending on the severity of the disease, and ranges from one to three months.

In parallel with the use of compresses it is recommended to work on increasing your own immunity. The best way to do this is to prepare a decoction of wild rose berries prepared by yourself, which should be taken 3-4 times a day for half a cup.

The main way to prevent this disease is to use caution in sports and physical training. This is especially true for those sports where the main load falls to the feet.

Given the characteristics of the immature adolescent organism, one should take into account the load that the teenager receives. Also worth paying attention and weight. Excessive fullness causes unnecessary strain on the knee joints, which leads to the risk of getting Schlätter’s disease. When drawing up a diet, attention should be paid to products containing calcium in their composition, which has a beneficial effect on the strength of bone tissue.

How to treat Hoff’s disease? Symptoms, prevention and treatment

Hello, my dear readers. In my today’s article there will be a talk about problems with the diseased knees. Hoff’s disease of the knee joint, the treatment of this disease has become a problem not only for people of the age, but also for the younger generation. In my article, we will try to disclose the causes of this disease, preventive measures, and, of course, treatment – both traditional and popular ways to combat this unpleasant disease.

What is the knee joint? This is one of the most difficult joints in the human body, which includes many different elements. Its functional component is responsible for the mobility and stability of the lower limbs of a person. Trauma or disease of any of the elements of the knee joint leads to difficulty in movement, a sense of discomfort in the knee.

Goff’s disease – what is it?

If we try to understand more specifically the diseases of Hoff, then we should return to the functions of the knee joint. In addition to movement, the knee joint in the human body is responsible for depreciation, that is, it performs a certain kind of emollient function for jumping, running, walking.

And it is for the depreciation in the knee joint that the elements called fat bodies of Goff answer. They are small fatty structures located above the synovial membrane. Speaking in a simpler language – these are peculiar pillows that evenly distribute the load.

If an inflammatory process occurs, the fatty bodies of Goff lose their damping ability. This is due to the fact that the fat tissue in the process of chronic inflammation is gradually replaced by a joint that can not perform the functions necessary for the knee joint.

Most often this disease develops on the background of the received trauma of the knee joint. Also the reason can be a long stay in a squat position. In this case, pressure is exerted on the front wall of the knee joint and, correspondingly, the disturbance of fatty bodies. For women, this disease is characteristic during the menopause, against the background of hormonal changes.

Hoff’s disease can be divided into two conditional periods: acute and chronic.

Symptoms of an acute period:

  1. Frequent pain in the knee area
  2. The onset of swelling, often swelling continues to increase
  3. Absence of the possibility of full extension of the knee joint, against painful sensations

Chronic or later period:

  1. Periodic painful sensations, intensifying at night
  2. With the independent palpation of both sides of the patella, palpations are palpated, with pressing on which are audible crackling sounds
  3. The peculiar blockade of the knee joint, which excludes the possibility of fully utilizing the leg for the support
  4. Partially limited functionality of the quadriceps femoris muscle
  5. The instability of the knee joint is gradually developing

There are a number of symptoms by which you can visually diagnose Goff’s disease. This lameness, pain in the knee joint, edema of the knee, the lack of the ability to fully unbend the aching leg.

The presence of these symptoms should serve as an excuse for you to see a doctor who, in turn, should send you to an MRI or instrumental examination, which will result in the necessary treatment.

Treatment of Hoff’s disease

After all the horrors we have outlined above, we will try to calm you down – with the correct diagnosis and professional treatment, Goff’s disease is curable, with almost complete restoration of the knee joint.

Official medicine offers for patients suffering from Goff’s disease two types of treatment: conservative and operative.

  1. Restriction of the patient’s motor activity, complete exclusion of physical activity, including exercise
  2. Physiotherapy, Sollux lamp treatment, various applications (mud, paraffin), laser therapy, oxygen therapy
  3. Anti-inflammatory and hormonal drugs
  4. Complex of physiotherapy exercises
  5. In the event that the disease was diagnosed at an unopened stage, this treatment is sufficient to completely restore the functions of the fat bodies of Hoff.

In the event that all of the above methods are ineffective and the disease is already running, medical workers prescribe an arthroscopic operation. The meaning of such an operation is to eliminate the deformed fat bodies of Hoff. After the operation, within 15-20 days, from the remaining bodies the full fatty tissue with all the necessary functional is regenerated.

Restoration after arthroscopic surgery on the knee joint should be at least three weeks, during which it is recommended to undergo courses of physiotherapy, massage and physiotherapy.

Folk remedies

We are forced to warn you immediately that in the case of Hoff’s disease, self-medication is not the best way to help yourself.

The councils that meet in various health centers basically recommend the use of various kinds of warming compresses. The whole problem is that these methods relieve pain, mask the disease, but do not solve the problem.

Timely without intervening in the course of the disease, you run the risk of transforming Hoff’s disease into a more serious disease – arthrosis, which will lead to constant pain in the knee joint area. Therefore, do not blindly believe folk medicine and if you have any symptoms that I listed in the article, I strongly recommend that you do not delay the decision and contact a specialist who can correctly diagnose the disease and prescribe the necessary course of treatment.

Hoff’s disease of the knee joint, treatment of this disease, should not frighten you – this problem for modern medicine is completely solvable.

On this I say goodbye to you. Subscribe to updates, leave your comments about this and other articles. Until new meetings on the pages of my blog.

How at home to cure a transverse flatfoot?

Hello, my dear readers. In my today’s article, we will try to deal with such a fairly common ailment, as a transverse flatfoot. Home treatment – a myth or reality for a given disease Causes, symptoms, prevention measures – for all these questions, you will find the answers in the article.

What is a flatfoot?

To begin with, we need to figure out what the stop is. The human foot is represented by three main divisions (tarsus, plyus and fingers). Also, the composition of the foot includes a variety of ligaments and muscles that allow the foot to have the necessary strength and elasticity.

In order to avoid maximum load, the foot has several bends, due to which the main load falls on certain parts of the foot. And here we come to the answer to the question: what is a transverse flatfoot?

This is the case when the height of the transverse arch of the foot is reduced, due to which the overall configuration of the entire foot changes and the load distribution is in the wrong proportion.

Causes of transverse flatfoot

If you adhere to the official explanation of the disease, it sounds like this: the main cause is a disruption of the ligament apparatus of the lower limbs. With this disease, the foot expands, due to bone-cartilaginous growth.

This kind of flatfoot, in turn, is divided into congenital and acquired. Congenital is due to various kinds of genetic disorders, and acquired in its bulk is observed in middle-aged people. If you analyze the main causes of the acquired disease, then the most common are:

  1. Excessive load on the foot with prolonged walking and wearing various kinds of weights
  2. Sedentary lifestyle
  3. Overweight
  4. Chronic diseases of bone tissue (osteoporosis)
  5. Diabetes
  6. Inflammatory processes in the musculoskeletal system
  7. Various kinds of foot trauma
  8. Age-related changes in the musculoskeletal system
  9. Strokes, paralysis of the lower limbs
  10. Pregnancy

And the most important reason, despite the banality, is the incorrectly selected shoes.

In this case, you need to focus your attention on two things: a high heel changes the angle of pressure on the foot sections as a result of which they diverge to the side.

The second point is a flat sole. Here there is a divergence of the foot bones to the sides, as a result of which the height of the arches of the foot decreases.

So, we came to the first conclusion – the right choice of shoes is the key to fighting flatfoot.

Main symptoms

At the initial stage of development, the transverse flatfoot is difficult to diagnose. But there are certain points that you should pay attention to as signs of a beginning illness:

  • Painful sensations in the legs and feet. At the initial stage appear at the end of the working day, with a progressive disease, these symptoms are observed throughout the day.
  • The symptomatology described in the first paragraph leads to a general fatigue of the patient.
  • Different degrees of edema of the feet.
  • At the base of the fingers appear burrs and fraying.
  • There are certain inconveniences associated with the operation of the musculoskeletal system.

All these moments adversely affect the resulting load of the musculoskeletal system. The load significantly increases, which leads to the development of osteochondrosis and articular arthrosis.

In modern medicine, transverse flatfoot has three degrees of gradation, increasing. And if the first two degrees are subject to conservative treatment, then at the third degree will have to resort to surgical intervention. If you are interested in flat feet, then read about knee injuries and how to avoid them.

The correct diagnosis of this disease should be put by an orthopedic doctor. In addition to visual inspection, there are several ways to diagnose flatfoot:

  1. Plantography, diagnosis by examining a footprint on a piece of paper
  2. X-ray – a picture that allows you to fully appreciate the nature of changes occurring in the foot
  3. Electromyography – analyzes the condition of the muscles of the feet and lower legs
  4. Computer-hardware complex, with the help of a special program that gives out all the necessary information about the condition of the foot

Treatment of flat feet

As it was written above, at the first and second degree of the disease, conservative treatment is quite enough. The main stages of such treatment include the following:

  • Lowering the load on the foot
  • Orthopedic shoes. Here you need to consider the individual characteristics of the course of the disease, with the appropriate selection of necessary footwear
  • In the event that one of the causes of the disease is the excess weight of the patient, then various procedures should be carried out to reduce it
  • Individually prescribed course of exercise therapy
  • Various kinds of analgesics, are prescribed to relieve pain
  • Massotherapy

If the disease has passed to the third degree, the methods of conservative treatment are no longer suitable. Surgical intervention is necessary, in which the correction of the arch of the foot takes place.

Folk ways of treating this disease at home are ineffective and basically stop pain, not solving the problem radically. These methods include various kinds of compresses, foot baths based on various types of medicinal herbs.

The main conclusion that can be drawn from all of the above information, the health of your feet largely depends on yourself. Properly selected shoes, the lack of excess weight, motor activity – will significantly reduce the risk of the disease. The transverse platypodia, treatment at home is quite real and entirely depends on you.

On this I say goodbye to you, subscribe to updates, share links with your friends. I await your comments. Until next time!

What is Bechterew’s disease in women?

Hello, our dear readers. In our today’s article, we will touch upon such a problem, concerning the beautiful half of humanity, as Bekhterev’s disease in women. Symptoms of this disease, features of development and treatment, all this will be reflected in our article.

It should be noted that this disease is more common in men than in women. If you make a conditional proportion, the indicators will be the next 85 by 15 percent in favor of men. However, even with such a noticeable skew in favor of the male population, one should not turn a blind eye to the female problems associated with this disease.

So, what is the female version of Bekhterev’s disease? If we describe the disease in a few words, omitting complex medical terms, then this rheumatic lesion of bones, ligaments and places of cartilaginous tissue, with a high probability later leading to immobility of the joint.

An unpleasant moment is the fact that the disease is of a genetic nature, that is, the probability of the disease can not be excluded by inheritance. Often, the carrier of the altered antigen and does not suspect its presence, the inflammatory process starts only from the moment the infection gets into the body.

Symptoms of the disease in women

The problem of this disease is mild symptomatology, which leads to the impossibility of identifying the disease at an early stage of development. The main regularity of the female development of Bechterew’s disease is manifestation in the form of attacks, the duration of which varies from a few hours to several weeks.

Another characteristic feature is the intensification of pain at night. You should also pay attention to the following:

  1. Painful sensations in the region of the sacrum, with the predominance of one side. Echoes of pain can reach the hips and lower back.
  2. After sleep, a pronounced stiffness in the lumbar region, there may be pain in the spine during the day.
  3. Foci of pain in the chest, most pronounced with deep inspiration or cough.
  4. Increased fatigue, apathetic, depressed state.
  5. There is an inconspicuous eye reduction of the distance between the chest and chin.

With these symptoms, I strongly recommend that you do not expect that the problem will disappear by itself, but go to the doctor to make the correct diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Diagnosis of the disease

As already mentioned above, Bekhterev’s disease is very problematic to diagnose at the initial stage of development. To accurately identify the disease must resort to a complete examination of the body. Special attention should be paid to the following procedures:

  1. X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging. These procedures will allow to determine the current changes in bone tissue and inflammatory processes in the joints.
  2. Blood test. With the help of this analysis, an increase in the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation (ESR) is determined. This fact indicates the presence of an inflammatory process in the human body.

Features of the development of Bechterew’s disease in women

Judging by the professional conclusions of doctors, Bechterew’s disease in women is relatively mild in comparison with this disease in men. Foci of the defeat of the female body are the spine, hip and shoulder joints.

Moreover, not the whole spine is affected by the disease, but only the lumbar and sacral parts, unlike men who have almost the whole vertebral column affected by numbness. Also, in case of illness in women, infestation of internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, heart is extremely rare.

Bechterew’s disease during pregnancy

The doctors carried out a series of studies aimed at identifying various pathologies associated with the disease during pregnancy.

We hasten to reassure women, this disease has no effect on the child. Also there is no threat of premature birth or the possibility of miscarriage. The only possible inconvenience can be considered a small probability of cesarean section, but the need for this can occur only in the case of acute immobility of the hip joints, which is extremely rare.

Also, you should pay attention to taking medications prescribed for the treatment of Bekhterev’s disease during pregnancy. The amount should be dosed, and for one and a half to two months before the birth it is necessary to stop taking medications altogether, which can be resumed after the birth.

Treatment of the disease has a fairly traditional form. It should be borne in mind that treatment should be carried out throughout life. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that one should not engage in self-medication, but strictly adhere to the treatment method that your physician prescribes to you.

For each specific case, a specific dosage and multiplicity of medication is prescribed. The main drug for Bechterew’s disease are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

It is also possible to prescribe additional drugs containing multivitamin supplements. In case of acute course of the disease, the patient may be hospitalized, with further treatment procedures using cytostatics and steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.

Prevention of disease

The following measures should be attributed to the main measures for the prevention of Bekhterev’s disease:

Doing sports, with a focus on those species that give joints a soft load (swimming)
Avoid hypothermia
Avoid provoking factors
To observe preventive measures against infectious diseases

Observance of these points will allow you to avoid problems associated with this disease. Bechterew’s disease in women, the symptoms of which I described in the article, should not frighten you. With due regard to your own organism, this disease will not bring you any particular inconvenience.

On this I say goodbye to you, until new meetings on the pages of my blog, subscribe to updates. I await your comments about the article. See you soon!

Recommendations and tips if you pulled a ligament foot

I greet you, dear visitor. If you read my story, I will assume that you have a similar problem, and now you are wondering: what to do with stretching the leg ligaments? Since the problem is familiar to me not by hearsay, and the stretching is present in my sports practice, I will tell you my stories.

Some time ago, in a volleyball training session, I landed unsuccessfully on the opponent’s leg, tucked my ankle into my legs. A sharp sharp pain pierced my leg. Trying to step aside, I realized that I can hardly step on my foot. Then the trainer who approached us stated that I had a sprained ligament in my left leg.

I had to spend the rest of the training passively halfway, doing only the exercises on my hands, since my leg hurt incredibly and did not allow me to make unnecessary movement on it. Home came limping and suffering unpleasant pain. The most painful thing was to turn the leg inward, and occasionally this happened accidentally, bringing a sharp and burning pain. The leg at the site of the lesion was swollen and acquired a bluish-yellowish hue.

For those who do not know what a ligament is, I explain: the ligament is the localization of the connective tissue, designed to strengthen our joints. If you, colleagues, are engaged in intensive sports, then know that our ligaments are under heavy loads during training, and their full or partial breaks are not uncommon.

It was necessary to do something

Of course, I began to take steps to get into the system as soon as possible. Interrupt in the sport for a long time did not want at all, it was a shame to skip the material and run the lower half of the body.

At home, I immediately put the cold on the affected place, in order not to remove the throbbing pain.

Next, I applied the gel to the affected area. Such a gel must always be in the kit of any athlete, and I always have it ready.

In the pharmacy, I bought a new elastic bandage and made a leg bandage so as to fix the ankle. Yes, when walking it caused some inconvenience, but I realized that it is necessary for a speedy recovery. In general, I tried to move as little as possible, more to keep my foot in a horizontal position for the outflow of blood from swelling.

The bandage loosened every 2-3 hours, and every 6 hours smeared the place of damage with troxevasin.

For training, I continued to walk, putting on an elastic bandage and not giving any loads to the aching leg.

Two days later, walking almost did not bring pain. A week later, my leg felt more or less well, and I decided to try it fully. However, after jumping several times, I realized that I was in a hurry. Again the pain, again the treatment.

Finally, I rehabilitated only two weeks after the last load on my leg. I was lucky that this period fell just on New Year’s holidays, because I just had to rest. Moral: when you stretch the ligaments you need complete and absolute peace in relation to this ligament.

What are the degrees of sprain?

In general, sprains are divided into three categories:

  1. – first degree. When the pain is quite tolerable, movement is possible, puffiness is negligible. In this case, you can not use any measures at all – just give a bunch of rest for a week or two;
  2. – the second degree. When the pain is strong enough, there is swelling, pulsation in the place of edema, the affected joint is moving painfully. It is already necessary to use ointments, elastic bandages. A restrained bundle is simply necessary;
  3. – the third degree. When the pain is unbearable, the swelling is huge, down to the hematoma. In this case, you should immediately go to the emergency room – perhaps not only a stretch, but a joint dislocation or fracture. Most likely, it is necessary to lay down on hospitalization and to drop out of a life at least for a month.

How my friend experienced a third degree of sprain

This story is not the only one in his practice. This stretching can be called relatively easy. About ten years ago he had the displeasure to know what the third degree of stretching was. Ironically, it happened not in training and not in the woods, where my friend was all that day, and on his arrival in the city, elementary in the wasteland, where dense summer grass – alas – hid the presence of pits.

It was in this pit that his leg hit him badly. A terrible pain in the ankle: so that he already howled, the swelling went instantly – so much so that I had to remove my boot from the foot (because my foot stopped to fit into it). He was lucky that I was with him. I had to literally carry it in my arms.

It was already quite late, so he spent the night without any help. The next morning on the crutches brought by me, he got to the emergency room to take a picture for a fracture. The pain was terrible, the leg was difficult to lower down, as the blood flowed to her, causing additional inconvenience. It’s good that the fracture was not there – they saved dense boots. However, the stretch was such that for a month he lay at home, moving around the house with difficulty on crutches.

Every day he rubbed his leg with troxevasin, rewound with a stretch bandage, kept it only horizontally, because in the vertical position the blood poured into the affected area, making the leg almost leaden.

If you have a sprain

So, dear reader, I believe that I have enough experience to tell you exactly what to do:

  1. You do not need to be heroic and try to pretend that nothing has happened. A man is hard to admit his weakness, but this is not the case when you have to clench your teeth and continue to train or move. It will only get worse;
  2. Immediately put ice or something cold on the affected area. If the stretching occurred in the gym, attach a cold pancake from the bar or a plastic dumbbell. Cold objects can always be found;
  3. See degree of stretching. Above I described the signs of each degree. A huge swelling and terrible pain is an occasion to immediately go to the emergency department;
  4. Do not hesitate to ask for help from others. Ointment and bandage may not be at hand, but they may be at someone from the environment;
  5. At the time of rehabilitation, organize yourself assistance in household matters. You still have to move around, and try to minimize these movements. If you have someone to cook food, go to the store for bread, – now is the time to ask them about it;
  6. I understand that most of you can not wait to fight again (ie for training). But wait. Premature loads on the stretched ligament – and all for a new one. Be patient.

I wish you all a minimum of injuries, good health and good mood. I hope that the information turned out to be useful to you, so you can subscribe to the blog updates and share the article on social networks. If one of you still does not know what to do with stretching the leg ligaments, I will gladly answer the questions in the comments to the article.
